Rob Gear's incredible talents were spawned over 20 years of service within the Military Police. He is the man responsible for developing and conducting VIP Close Personal Protection, Close Quarter Combat and Defensive Tactics training within the Australian Defence Force. Having been employed within the United Nations as the Security Commander and personal bodyguard for the Force Commander of Cambodia, Rob was also employed as the Chief Instructor in formulating Cambodian Military Police school and personally training over 2,000 native Military Police in Cambodia, a war- torn country renowned for its brutal killing fields. He also served through out South East Asia with distinction. A 9th Degree Black Belt and Chief Instructor of Budo-Jitsu, Rob also holds dozens of training, leadership and management qualifications, not to mention over 20 different martial arts degrees. He is an expert in weapons, explosives, hostage retrieval, survival, intelligence, surveillance and counter terrorist tactics. Since leaving his life in the military, Rob became the founder of Conflict Management Services, a company now renowned for its no BS efficiency. But his list of credentials doesn't stop there. |

His expertise has seen him employed as the National Security Manager to the Murdoch family and their senior executives. This position included coordinating, reviewing and implementing security services within the News Limited Group of companies including Super League and Fox Studios. Rob was then head-hunted from the Murdochs by the Packer family to architect and act as Commander for security operations during James Packer's wedding and subsequent function. This event included protecting a guest list of VIPs from all over the world, not to men tion providing security for a ceremony that involved jew ellery fit for European royalty. Since then Rob has continued his work within elite circles, providing personal security for Prince Pavlos (The Crown Prince of Greece) and his family, The Getty family, Robert Miller (Duty Free Entrepreneur) and Sir Elton John to name a few. He has also been a Special Operations Training Consultant to the refugee facilities in Woomera and Port Headland. Rob began martial arts in 1974 and his experience now spans 30 years in various styles and his Martial arts qualifications include:
Rob's martial arts career began at the Wodonga Police Youth Centre in Victoria where he trained in a basic Karate system until joining the Australian Regular Army in 1976. "There was nothing around in those days so you accepted what ever was available." In 1979 he commenced training in the Unarmed Combat Instructors course then resulted in Rob becoming the Physical Training and Unarmed Combat Instructor for the Military Police Corps. Rob has had the opportunity and privilege to train within various Martial arts organisations under the most elite instructors within there specialised organisations such as Kyoshi Bob Jones (who taught him that any thing can be achieved), Billy Manne (for the hardness and dedication of a true martial artist), Malcolm Anderson (simplicity and speed), Roland Dantes (Amis and Kali], Bruce Haynes (whose loyalty and friendship has helped to put the mon grel in himl, Kyoshi Tino Ceberano (who has shown him through loyalty and friendship that it is not the style but the man), Major John Whipp - Chief Instructor unarmed combat army (showing a will to win and never give up). Budo-Jitsu evolved when Rob formed Close Quarter Combat for the Australian Defence Force, Military Police and the United Nations dealing with body guarding and has developed into an awesome, complete and pragmatic martial arts system, as we know it today. |

It must be emphasised this is not a sport but a combat, reality-based organisation. You will not find students preparing for world titles, or Olympic selection on our floors. Nor will you find hundreds of schools scattered indiscriminately throughout Australia.
